At school we have learnt about food: the things you put in the pot to prepare different dishes.
Whe we planned the visit to the consumer’s education centre, we discussed about shopping. It is important to have a shopping list so you don’t buy things you don’t really need.
We decided to buy ingredients to make our favourite dishes: some have chosen paella, some tortilla…

See how we did it:

Children from Educación Infantil went to the shopping centre. They learnt about different shops. Their favourite was the baker’s shop where they learnt how to make bread. This was a part the fourth part of our project “consuming patterns”.
- Before we went there we have learnt about shops at school (names of the shops, what we buy in each shop, money, etc)
- When we went to the shopping centre, there were some members of the staff to welcome us.
- We have seen many shops from the outside.
- Then we went to the baker’s shop. We watched how they bake bread.
- We washed our hands and put a mask to make our own bun. People who prepare food must be very clean and careful, or they cause many illnesses.
- While our bun was baked we visited other shops: the fishmonger and a toyshop.
- Finally we went to pick our bun. It was delicious!

The sun is there. Some times we can see it, some times not. It seems to hide behind the clouds. But it is a big source of energy: it makes the plants live, it makes the water move round and round… This experiment shows the effects of solar energy. We can take advantage of it with a simple device. Can you imagine the amount of energy we can get from the sun using sophisticated devices?

Hello
We also have got a pack from Rzeszów after Easter. It was full of spring colourful crafts. We also do similar things in our school.
Thanks to our little friends in Poland (and to their teachers, of course) for all these beautiful presents.

After Easter we got a pack from Kumla. There were cards, drawings, witches… We were quite surprised when we saw the witches. It was Easter, not Halloween! Now we know why. We have done some reasearch and the children from Kumla have explained to us how they dress up as witches… Very funny tradition!
Here you have the photos of the pack we got…

In Spain Mother’s Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May.
Children usually make a present for mums at school. This time children from the third cycle used empty yoghourt jars (glass jars) and made candles.
The materials needed are paraffin and old wax colours to dye the paraffin. Also a string to put in the middle so you can light the candle when it is finished.
You heat the paraffin inside a bowl you put in boiling water.
When it is hot you dye it.
You put a string in the little jar and pour the hot paraffin around the string.
You put a layer in the little jar and wait until it cools.
Then you put a layer with a different colour and so on.
Finally you get a nice colourful candlle for your mum.
